Gaza – The Big Picture and What Israel Should Do (have done)

Nearing what could be the end, or hopefully simply a lull, of this round of fighting in Gaza, it is important to take a step back, look at the big picture, and see what Israel if anything has achieved in what it should have achieved. Throughout this latest conflict I have published several articles discussing various aspects like Kerry’s intervention and The Tactics and Strategy and The demonstrations and Media. I have also covered, the Obama administration’s position and attempt to pressure Israel, and Israel’s flawed PR efforts. Gaza Background, What IS Gaza? In this last area specifically, it has been painful to see a massive (relative to its size) international movement of “Pro-Israel” sentiment mobilized largely to no end. Jews and non-Jews alike, around the world flocked to social media to post an endless stream of often creative messages (broadly accurate but not always) whose sum total was “Hamas is mean!”. Insult Upon Injury

The song and dance around death is sickening. The irresponsible bandwagon media, here in the form of the AP, apparently not thinking it was enough that the recognized leader of a country (one of the longest recognized leaders in the world) was captured alive, taunted, abused, lynched and murdered in the street without charge or trial, now must of course also state that he died a coward. Full Article SIRTE, Libya (AP) — Dragged from hiding in a drainage pipe, a wounded Moammar Gadhafi raised his hands and begged revolutionary fighters: “Don’t kill me, my sons.” First of all, it is a FACT that it is very unclear so far what it is that happened. The only reason we can even believe that he is dead is due to the video. They have reported him, and all of his sons dead and/or caputred dozens of times. Due to the fact video has been seen only of Qadaffi and his son Motassin dead, no one can even confirm that the report that Saif (his other son) is wounded and captured, and there are many conflicting reports about that so far as well. The noose tightens… Turkey, Embassy attack (“I told you so”s, Rumsfeld) and much more…

These are a few notes combined that I have been wanting to write the last few days as events unfolded and was not able to find the time. Therefore, it is far too long, but divided into sections for those interested… Intro In spite of the 911 anniversary, (and awesomeness of seeing George W speak again), and the sharp reminder that should be of the enemy the west faces, quite the opposite seems to be happening, and the Obama era of appeasement of the USA’s enemies and betrayal of its friends is yielding direct results, the International noose is closing in around Israel who as always stands on the very front line of this War of West vs East. Some days ago, before the dramatic declarations and events in Egypt, the IDF Commander of the Home Front, Maj.-Gen. Eyal Eisenberg, warned about a possible Multi Front Middle-East-Wide War with WMDs being used. He cited the spiraling tensions with Turkey and (as apparently as a reader of my posts) and the revolutions across the Arab world. He also got into a lot of trouble for voicing this opinion. NATO and Al Qeada fighting side by side?

ALGIERS: al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb on Sunday claimed responsibility for deadly twin suicide attacks in Algeria, accusing the regime there of supporting Moamer Qadhafi in neighbouring Libya. Well, it is good to know that if Algeria wishes to standy by its neighbors’ long time government, a partner in maintaining stability, and combating illegal drugs, illegal immigration, terrorism and islamic extremism (ie Qadaffi) when facing insurrection fueled by internal and external forces, then Al Qeada will quickly come to NATO’s aid in punishing it for standing in the way of Islamic revolution, brought to you by NATO bombs. Within one or two days of the Libyan rebels declaring Algeria a hostile entity for aiding Qaddafi troops (and taking in some of the family members including Qdaffi’s daughter who reportedly was giving birth at the border without medical attention), Al Qeada attacked Algiers, brother-in-arms with the islamic mob taking over Libya and NATOs forces helping them do it. While NATO can do just fine blowing up Libya’s army and soldiers to bits (in order to “save civillian lives”), its more beurocratic structure would be cumbersome and slow to secure a mandate to bomb Algiers as well, so the more nimble [...]

More absurd statements

I have already described previously the annoying, illogical and constant slew of statements by every western leader and media pundit asking Qadaffi to realize he no longer has power, and then to please somehow step down and relinquish that power he does not have… Qadaffi meanwhile, continues to fight and issue statements for his people to continue resistance… Ironically, he does not declare that the various PMs of Europe have lost, should realize so, and step down, but simply that he fights on, and urges the Libyan people to do so as well. So, today, the Brittish Foreign Minister Hague, had a new call for Col. Qadaffi, don’t just please step down, but Hague called on Gadhafi to “stop issuing delusional statements.” It’s comic, Qadaffi’s statements that he will continue to fight, and will not surrender (as he is in fact doing), are “delusional” because they fail to “recognize” what the western leaders have asked him to recognize for months… that he no longer has power and cannot resist (though he still has and does). Qaddafi a Lion?

It was hard to understand… and yet incredibly irritating to continusoulsy, for months, and at an ever increasing pace the last few days, hear every western leader and pundint continue to say that Qadaffi “must realize” he is defeated and step down… Someone who is defeated must not realize anything, since he is defeated. When Saddam was found in a hole and arrested, he was not pressed by world leaders to please step down and “realize” his time is up. It was not irrelevent what he chose to realize or not. By the very fact the world continues to ask col. Gadaffi to step down, they imply that he has somewhere to step down from… namely power. If NATO, and the rebel scum they are backing mean to defeat Qadaffi, then there is no need for him to neither step down, nor realize that his time is up or any other cliche being thrown around. Of course, at earlier stages of the conflict, the excuse for this childish comment is that, it was not that Qadaffi was already defeated, but rather that he shold realize he cannot possibly win, and so in the name of avoiding further bloodshed he should [...]
