Time for Rick Santorum to Man Up (and other widoms)

A lot hangs in the balance… Win or lose… this is still far from over after Florida tomorrow. Newt should dig in for the long haul, and look ahead to caucus states, and Western states coming up. However, losing Florida to Romney would definitely make a Newt nomination very difficult, though not impossible. On the other hand, even with Newt winning Florida, the road ahead is full of difficulty. Romney’s well oiled machine, money, and GOP establishment behind him make it difficult to topple him from the front runner position. Or so they would make it seem… really the biggest thing in Romney’s corner is the media. The media can easily make or break people (ask Dan Quayle). No amount of ad dollars can equal what the media can blast and re-blast for free. The Internet does little more than repeat it in different ways. Earlier, when Newt simply seemed like a worthy underdog who performed very well in the debates, the media had no problem reporting this. Dear Russians

Dear Russian Jews Having seen this for the millionth time in 3 countries I can’t take it anymore… Please understand. Its NOT a “New Year’s” Tree or a yule tree, or a novigod tree or a fir tree, or a chestnut tree, its called a Christmas tree!! It is not a Russian tradition (even though you have everyone convinced)… it’s a Christian tradition. It’s as Russian as breathing is Russian. Christians all over the world, celebrate the Christmas season with a Christmas tree. Britts, Americans, Germans, Mexicans, etc usually are not ignorant enough to call it their national tradition (well, maybe some Americans would be), they realize its a Christian tradition. A Christmas tree is as Russian as Jesus is Russian (even if you call it a New Year’s tree). New Years and Christmas are inextricably related as part of Jesus’s bday season (Announcement, birth, circumcision, etc). The modern Gregorian Calendar of course, divides all time as BC and AD (before birth and after death, and sets Christmas as Dec 25, and New years as Jan 1, while the Julian or old Christian calendar (still followed by some Greek Orthodox churches) sets them Jan 7 and [...]

Iowa – Santorum and on..

All right, Santorum gained a few points in my book, by his talk at what he thought was probably a close win near the end of the reporting in Iowa yesterday: His story about his grandfather’s hands digging freedom for him in a Pennsylvania mine. His remark about a best friend being one who knows your life song, and sings it back to you when you forget the words. His remark about Obama’s remark about middle americans “clinging to their guns and their bibles” Santorum said.. “Thank Gd”, eliminating manufacturing corporate tax was not bad either, though his unequal tax treatment of diff industries (just can’t walmart can’t move to china is not ideologically good) … and must give credit to the strategy, nose to the ground, hard work, with little money, ignoring the pundits, and devising his own iowa momentum strategy and focusing on it and carrying through. that was impressive. Too bad his “conservatism” comes simply from his faith (Catholic), not a true conservative, his loyalties lie with unions and poor workers… he can’t shake the picture of union mine workers like his grandfather. for his hard work, and social conservatism and religiousness, he isnt a true conservative, [...]

Online Political Tests – Can’t find a good one

So its all fun and games with these online political tests… until you take a close look. All I wanted is to spend a few simple minutes answering questions so that a cool graph can come up that tells me that the only thing Right of me is the wall… and that compared to me, Pinochet and Milton Friedman seem to advocate marxism. But instead, these tests seem to be written with such ninifyingly academic leftistness that they are impossible to answer truthfully (lest I answer all the “leftist” answers). Basically, freedom is so devoid from these people’s heads that they cannot even imagine it, much less write questions looking for it. Basically, they check for a “cartoon” version of conservatism or right wing, due to their biases, and though I know the answer they are “looking for” to indicate right or left, they are most often quite wrong.
